Shop Jefferson County, Hire Jefferson County
JCGA created the ‘Shop Jefferson County’ campaign to promote shopping local businesses. This campaign educates the public about the benefits of shopping locally to grow and enrich the community and demonstrates how sales tax dollars support police, fire, ambulance, library, schools, roads and bridges and other tax funded programs.
JCGA is expanding the campaign to include ‘Hire Jefferson County,’ to support and encourage individuals, businesses and organizations to hire local service providers. Hiring local helps recycle and keep more dollars in our communities, and helps secure jobs for those who choose to make their home here.
JCGA provides opportunities for hearing from and interacting with legislators representing Jefferson County during our annual State of the County address and breakfast, Legislative Visits to the State Capitol, Legislative Forum, Meet the Candidates Forum during election years, Holiday Party and end of session breakfast. JCGA’s “One Plan One Voice” initiative outlines how legislators and other partners may support the plan to transform Jefferson County into a destination community attracting businesses, families and tourists for its quality of life and economic opportunity.
JCGA does not directly endorse specific candidates or parties, but supports the legislative process by providing public forums and events on issues of importance.
INDUSTRY & BUSINESS
JCGA strives to help maintain job growth and a high quality of life for our citizens by sharing information and spearheading initiatives that address business challenges and foster a positive business environment.
A recent example is the Jefferson County Manufacturing/Engineering Economic Summit, where JCGA, the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and Jefferson College invited plant representatives from manufacturing/engineering companies to discuss their needs, including talent attraction and training.
JCGA holds regular membership meetings and provides speakers addressing topics focused on business improvements and growth. Through collaborative partnerships with Jefferson College, elected officials, government entities, and local Chambers of Commerce, the JCGA fosters an environment which encourages progressive businesses to thrive in Jefferson County.
Events held by JCGA offer businesses and business owners numerous opportunities for networking and interacting with the community, business prospects and each other.
